25th -28th April 2012 - Dick Barton, Special
Agent
Dick
Barton made his radio debut on the Light Programme in
1946 and quickly became Britain s most popular hero. For
years the nation tuned in to hear the famous signature
tune, Devil’s Gallop, herald another cliff-hanging
adventure for the smooth, crime-busting Barton and his
friends Snowy and Jock.
If you are of a certain age, you will remember rushing
home from work or school to listen to another exciting
adventure! If you are too young (aren’t you the lucky
one?), you can find out what you missed in Woodford
Players’ exciting production, as we see this much loved
character in an entirely new adventure.
When a plot is uncovered
that threatens to poison the entire British tea supply,
there is only one man who can save the day: that
clean-cut, patriotic and all round British gentleman
Dick Barton! He soon finds himself wrapped up in an
adventure soaked with intrigue and mystery, as he faces
arch enemies Marta Heartburn and Baron Scarheart.
This exciting version is
as much stiff upper lip as it is tongue in cheek. There
are double entendres and wonderful musical parodies of
famous British standards such as Rule Britannia and
Happy Feet, G & S tunes, numbers from popular opera
including Peer Gynt and Carmen and others all with
really witty words.
We promise you a brilliant evening’s
entertainment…..don’t miss it!

23rd
and
24th June 2012 - Alan Bennett's Talking Heads Monologues
and Gosforth's Fête Supper Evening

This
evening promises to be an exciting departure for
Woodford Players . The Talking Heads monologues hardly
need any introduction! We shall be presenting two
monologues along with a light supper. The two monologues
have yet to be decided upon but whichever two it is you
can be guaranteed a great evening's entertainment. To
round off the evening we will present The hilarious Alan
Ayckbourn's One Act Play, "Gosforth's Fête". Please see
details below.

Whirlwind publican Gordon
Gosforth is running the village gala. His assistant,
Milly Carter, delivers bad news to our enthusiastic
publican. A big mistake with the public address system
results in the unwelcome news from Milly Carter being
broadcast to all and sundry. Included in the all and
sundry is Milly’s fiancé Stewart Stokes who becomes
extremely aggravated and drowns his sorrows with
alcohol. Councillor Mrs Pearce, after the most
disorganised greeting, is electrocuted by the PA system.
Gosforth's Fête starts like all village fêtes do,
however, it develops into chaos and as things continue
to go wrong the play climaxes to a complete disaster.
18th - 24th November 2012 - Calendar Girls
A group of extraordinary women, members
of a very ordinary Yorkshire WI, persuade one another to
pose for a charity calendar with a difference - no more
photos of Wharfedale bridges or Norman churches for
them. Overcoming their initial reserve, the friends drop
their dressing gowns, their modesty spared only by
artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements.

Puzzling their husbands, mortifying their children and
riding the wrath of the outraged WI, they spark a global
phenomenon. But as media interest snowballs, the
Calendar Girls find themselves exposed in ways they’d
never expected, revealing more than they’d ever planned.
A very English story with a very English heart, Calendar
Girls is quirky, poignant and hilarious.
Adapted by Tim Firth from the Miramax film of the same
name, it is based on an uplifting and very inspiring
true story.
This will be
another brilliant evening's entertainment so put this
one in your diary so that you can secure your seat as
soon as the box office is open! All
details will also be on our

page.
Auditions for Talking Heads and Gosforth's Fête will be
